Library

The Mahavidyalaya has an independent library having a large collection of law books, law reports and journals such as A.I.R., S.C.C., Local periodicals and some foreign reports like All England Reporter. Sweet & Maxwell’s Journal for the use of students, teachers and advocates, multiple copies of prescribed and recommended readings materials are available for the students. Sitting arrangements are provided for15% of the students at a time in the reading hall. The library is in the charge of a qualified and trained librarian. It is proposed to publish a quarterly Law Journal of the Mahavidyalaya in which the students, teachers and advocates may contribute their articles.

The rules of the library are as follows :

  1. The library of the Mahavidyalaya shall remain open between 11 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. on all working days.
  2. Students will be allowed to use the library only during college hours on presentation of Identity Card to the Prof-in- Charge library or librarian or any person appointed by the Principal.
  3. Students desirous of taking library books on loan for reading at their home will have to deposit a sum of Rs. 500/- as caution money. Books will be issued to them for a maximum period of ten days. Not more than 2 books will be issued at a time.
  4. Some specified journals and books will not be issued for use outside the library.

Minimum Library requirement: To start with, a Law Library shall have a set of AIR manual, Combo offer of CD of AIR Pvt. Ltd. (containing electronic version of AIR Supreme Court and High Court Data bases Research 1950-2015 (four connections each) Cr. L.J. Data Base 1950-2015 (four connections) AIR Privy Council Data Base 1900-1950 (four connections) AIR Manual Latest 6th Edition (1-45 Vols.), AIR Journal 2015, Cr. L.J. 2015, L.I.C. 2015, AIR Civil Cases 2015, AIR Law Lines 2015, AIR Cheque Dishonour Reports, 2015, AIR Accident Claims and Compensation 2015. Institution shall get electronic versions updated every year by AIR Pvt. Ltd.). Central Acts and Local Acts, Criminal law journal, SCC, Corporate Law Advisor Company cases, Indian Bar Review, selected Judgements on Professional Ethics and Journals with the back volumes for at least ten years and also such number of text books in each subjects taught during the period according to the minimum standard ratio of ten books for each registered students. For running integrated program, text books of such other subjects are also to be kept in the similar minimum ratio. The minimum investment in Library in each academic year must shall be Rupees five lakh for one stream and Rupees ten lakhs for both the streams.

Note:-

  1. (a)In a rural/remote area the centre is required to spend a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs to start with the library and to spend Rs. 2 lakhs every year. Whether it is being followed?
  2. (b)In an urban area, the centre is required to spend a sum of Rs. 10 lakhs library to start with and to spend Rs. 5 lakhs every year for updating it. Whether centre is following this requirement?
  3. (c) Working hours of Library and details of Library staff
  4. (d) Whether there is qualified and trained librarian or not

COMMON ROOM:

The Mahavidyalaya has a common room equipped with indoor games facilities. Students desirous to use common room must follow the rules framed by the Prof-in-Charge, of common room.

PLAYGROUND:

Provisions have also been made for a playground and adequate facilities for games and sports under the able guidance of an Instructor. Students desirous to use the facilities should contact the Instructor (physical training) or person appointed by the Principal to work in his place.

ENQUIRY COUNTER:

The Mahavidyalaya has a separate Enquiry Counter from where all imperative informations relating to the Mahavidyalaya / University may be obtained. All necessary forms are available at the Counter for which receipt will be issued forms may deposited at the Counter for which receipt will be issued.

EXAMINATION DEPARTMENT:

The Mahavidyalaya has a separate Examination department with Prof-in-Charge, Examination. An assistant is available during office hours to provide necessary information regarding college examination, university examination, registration etc.

COMPUTER LAB & PHOTOCOPIER CELL:

The Mahavidyalaya has Computer Lab fully equipped with latest model of computer which can be use by students as well as other staff members. For the benefit of the students as well as staff members, a photocopier is available in the premises of the Mahavidyalaya where photocopies are done at nominal cost.

LEGAL AID CLINIC AND HUMAN RIGHTS CELL:

The Mahavidyalaya has set up a Legal Aid Clinic and also Human Rights Cell under the Chairmanship of principal of the Mahavidyalaya for imparting practical training to students as well as rendering legal aid to needy and poor persons of the locality / district. Teachers and Advocate have been associated with the Clinic and also Cell as members.
